ILYA KHRZHANOVSKIY

Memory & Architecture

Khrzhanovskiy's work in recent years has extended beyond cinema into memorial, institutional, and architectural forms.

From 2020 onward, this work has been closely connected with the Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial Center in Kyiv, while also continuing through documentary co-productions and film company building.

Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial Center

From 2020 to 2023, Khrzhanovskiy served as Artistic Director of the Babi Yar Holocaust Memorial Center in Kyiv. The center combines research, memorial work, architecture, and public installation.

The projects developed there include Mirror Field, Tree, the wooden synagogue Place for Reflection, and the Crystal Crying Wall created by Marina Abramovic.
